Other Ways to Support
Vehicle Donations
By donating your used car, truck, RV, or boat through Vehicle Donation to Any Charity (V-DAC) and listing Bennington County Humane Society (dba Second Chance Animal Center) as the beneficiary of the vehicle-sales proceeds, your qualify for a tax deduction while helping shelter animals. They will even accept non-operational vehicles!
Follow this link to the page established for SCAC, then call them or provide your information online. After the vehicle auction, we will receive the balance after V-DAC deducts their expenses.
Petco Point-of-Purchase Contributions
Petco stores across the country collect donations for shelters at their cash registers. These donations are then forwarded to a local animal shelter at the end of every year. Second Chance is fortunate to be a Petco Partner, and our shelter is the designated recipient of general customer donations received at the BENNINGTON (Vermont) store location. We also participate in Petco’s monthly adoption events, and you can usually find us at the Bennington store the first Saturday of each month. (Please call us ahead to confirm our attendance!)
Planned Giving
Please consider SCAC when you are working on your estate planning. There are a variety of ways to contribute, including a donation through a bequest, establishing a trust, gifting appreciated stock, adopting a gift plan throughout your lifetime, or funding a Charitable Remainder Trust. However you decide to recognize the shelter, please know that your support will allow us to continue our important work - for the homeless animals and for the community. Please contact our Executive Director at 802-375-2898 ext.307 to discuss your plans and how we might assist you with your planning.
Consignment Shop Sales
Two area consignment shops have partnered with SCAC to turn your gently used clothing, accessories, and household items into contributions to SCAC! Call the shop nearest you to discuss details about this program and make sure to mention that you want your proceeds to be donated to our shelter.
