The vast majority of SCAC dogs are referred to as American Shelter Dogs. We encourage you to visit the website of the Animal Farm Foundation to find out how an American Shelter Dog is defined and how shelters are helping to break breed-specific barriers.
Please keep in mind that in order to adopt from Second Chance all pets currently living in your home MUST be spayed/neutered and up-to-date with their vaccines. If you currently do not own a pet, we still ask for a veterinarian reference to demonstrate that your previous pets were spayed/neutered, up-to-date with their vaccines, and brought to their veterinarian for regular checks.
