Spay/Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP)

If you need assistance to spay/neuter your cat or dog, SNAP is here to provide that service!

Our SNAP program serves residents of the following areas: ALL towns in Bennington County (VT); Cambridge, Salem, Shushan, and White Creek in Washington County (NY); Eagle Bridge, Hoosick Falls, North Petersburgh, and Petersburgh in Rensselaer County (NY); and North Adams and Williamstown in Berkshire County (MA).

There are three easy ways to apply to the SNAP program:

1. Click here to complete an online application;

2. Call 802-375-2898 ext. 312 to speak with our Programs Coordinator;

  1. Email [email protected] to have an application mailed to you.                                                                                                                                                                                    You must complete one application for EACH cat or dog.

SCAC schedules feline SNAP clinics 4-5 times per month, including every Wednesday, and you MUST have a confirmed appointment to participate. Once your application is submitted, we will contact you via email to inform you of the SNAP fee based on the services requested. You can then contact us to schedule the surgery date and submit your non-refundable deposit (which will be applied to your fee) to secure the date. Surgery preparation instructions and a date reminder will be mailed to you 2 weeks in advance of the surgery date. This is a same day surgery, and all cats must be picked up by 3:30 that afternoon.

Our canine SNAP program is slightly different. We operate our onsite canine clinic once a month, and most canine surgeries are scheduled through 2 area veterinarians who participate in this community program. You must submit a SNAP application, then we will respond via email informing you of the fee. You can then contact us to decide where you prefer to schedule the surgery. Surgeries at our facility require a $25 non-refundable deposit (which will be applied to your fee), and surgeries scheduled at either of the other 2 clinics require full payment to Second Chance before we send your SNAP voucher to that clinic. Please note that the other clinics may charge additional fees that are not included with the SNAP voucher, and those fees are your responsibility – the SNAP voucher is only for the spay/neuter surgery.

Vermont Spay/Neuter Incentive Program (VSNIP)

VSNIP is funded through the state of Vermont and is not affiliated with Second Chance Animal Center. VSNIP is a designated fund to assist income-eligible pet owners to spay/neuter their cat or dog. There are several area veterinarians who participate with VSNIP to provide services. Vermont residents can find out more by calling 855-478-7647 or by visiting the program website at Vermont Spay Neuter Incentive Program (VSNIP).
